Mum Festival Season of Events to Include Free Concert

Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble

The Mum Festival Committee announced that the Mum Festival Season of Events does not end when the parade is over and the carnival packs up.

The Committee announced a featured event of the Mum Season will be a special, free concert by the Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble in the Bristol Eastern High School Auditorium on Tuesday, September 26th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

“The Mum Festival celebration extends throughout the remainder of September and well into October”, said Maria Salice, Mum Festival Arts and Entertainment Chair.

“This collection of talented musicians is under the musical direction of Bristol’s own Richard Theriault and will feature special guests, the Bristol Chorale under the direction of Bristol’s own Ken Ferris and guest piano soloist Anna Pan. As is customary for Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble, a wide variety of musical selections will be played, including show tunes, marches, classical favorites and a patriotic salute paying tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces.”

The Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble’s Mum Festival concert will feature pianist, Anna Pan. Ana lives in Burlington, CT, and studies piano with Maggie Francis at The Hartt School Community Division, University of Hartford.

During her high school years, she performed and competed frequently, receiving 1st prize in the Musical Club of Hartford Piano Competition, the Virtuoso Piano Competition, and the Renee B. Fisher Piano Competition as well as 2nd prize in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra Young Artist’s Concerto Competition, L. Cameron Johnson Organ Competition, and Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival.

Pan performed as a soloist with the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Connecticut Youth Symphony on piano.

Anna is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) and has been working as an actuary at The Hartford since 2015. Anna maintains a small private piano studio and is organist at Collinsville Congregational Church.

Admission is free. However monetary donations are always greatly appreciated and accepted. This concert is proudly being sponsored by the 2017 Mum Festival Committee.

“The Mum Festival continues to grow each year and we are pleased to be a sponsor of this concert” added Jack Ferraro, Mum Festival Chair.

“This special concert is just an example of how we are trying to extend our Festival offerings and further highlight why we are so proud to call Bristol Home. We encourage the community to come out and support this very special event.”
