Wheeler to Host SNAP Enrollment Open Houses

As part of National Health Center Week, August 13–19, 2017, Wheeler will host three free public events and take part in a larger local event for residents of Bristol and the surrounding towns.

August 17, 2017 – An open house at Wheeler’s Health & Wellness Center, 10 North Main Street, Bristol, will include free blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) screenings and a tour of the center.  The event runs from 10 a.m. –3 p.m.

August 18, 2017 – Members of Wheeler’s health outreach team will visit the Wheeler Health & Wellness Center, 75 North Mountain Road, New Britain, on August 18, 2017 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. to assist local residents with SNAP and Medicaid enrollment. Tours of the center also will be offered.

August 19, 2017 – Members of Wheeler’s health outreach team will take part in the Rockwell Park Summer Festival in Rockwell Park, Bristol, from

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Blood pressure screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. – noon.  The event is hosted by the West End Association of Bristol. Wheeler is an event sponsor.   

National Health Center Week (August 13–19, 2017) recognizes the contributions that health centers make across the nation, particularly in low-income and medically underserved communities.

Health centers, including Wheeler’s centers in Bristol, New Britain and Hartford, serve over 25 million Americans at more than 9,000 sites across the country, reducing health care costs, improving quality outcomes and improving access to health care for all.
