Mom of Four Wins Magnificent Mother’s Day Makeover

oanne Shustock of Windsor, the grand prize winner of New Country Motor Cars’ Magnificent Mom Makeover promotion, will be treated to a day of head to toe pampering on May 20th. The Shustock family from left: Bethany, Steven, Joanne, Tabitha and Kristine.

Joanne Shustock of Windsor, working two jobs and starting her own cleaning company simply did what she needed to do to take care of her four children.

Now that all of the children are grown and out on their own, her daughter Tabitha wants her to focus on herself for a change. Her nomination for New Country Motor Cars of Hartford’s 3rd Annual Magnificent Mom Makeover promotion in honor of Mother’s Day was the hands down winner according to the panel of judges.

“Every mother works hard every day, but Joanne’s story really wowed us,” said Tim Parker, Vice President of New Country Motor Cars of Hartford.  “We are thrilled to help her start the next chapter of her life.”

Tabitha’s nomination:

My mother absolutely deserves a special Mother’s Day makeover. This woman spent all of her 20’s and 30’s raising myself and my 3 siblings, all while taking in two children whose mother had a problem with drugs & alcohol. She worked nights as a package handler at UPS, loading trucks with 50lb boxes until the early morning, returned home to pack us up for school and send us off on three different buses, and then went to her day job at the Journal Inquirer. She was a complete powerhouse, with all of the energy in the world, and even managed to start her own cleaning business on the weekends. I literally don’t know how she did it. Now that we are all grown up and moved out, my Mother is definitely experiencing “Empty Nest Syndrome.” She is now a successful business owner of her own housekeeping company & takes extra personal care of her elderly clients, even driving them to the casino on weekends! With everything she does have going on I think she finally deserves the chance to have the social life she missed out on…Now is her chance to add a touch of spice into her life. She recently lost about 40 pounds and looks great! She also has told me that she is ready to start dating, but hasn’t been on a date since 1985 and is clueless about what to wear, how to look, and not to mention the world of online dating. I think that this makeover would give her the boost of confidence that she needs and she can finally show off how beautiful she really is, inside and out. It would also let her know how much my siblings & I love her & appreciate all of her hard work, quirks, and uniqueness all while giving her an opportunity to take some new pictures & get her dating profiles up & running ;) Please choose my wonderful Mom!

Joanne’s day of pampering on May 20th will begin with a personal chauffeur picking her up in a luxurious new Mercedes. She will then be treated to a day of decadence in West Hartford Center starting with amagnificent makeover including hair and makeup at Bluemercury, a personal styling session with Debbie Wright of Project Closet, a shopping spree for fabulous fashions at the stylish BK & CO boutique, and a luscious lunch for two at Noble & company.

Tuesday: Early shower, fog and drizzle

Tuesday: Early shower, fog and drizzle

Monday didn’t feel very much like July! With waves of rain and temperatures in the 60s it felt more like spring or fall! While most of the rain is done, a few lingering showers along with areas of fog and drizzle will continue tonight into Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be slightly better, but not by much. The sky will start off overcast with the chance for an isolated shower or mist. Then in the afternoon some breaks in the clouds […]
