Historic: Bristol to officially sell portion of former mall site

Former Mall site

The City of Bristol and Bristol Hospital will make the proposed hospital complex on the former mall site a reality by signing a purchase and sale agreement in City Hall at 2 p.m., Friday, April 21st.

The deal gives a portion of the former mall site to Bristol Hospital for the construction of a four-story 125,000-square-foot medical facility on Main Street.

The building will feature a dynamic ambulatory care center and could employ hundreds of medical professionals. It could also bring thousands of patients to downtown.

In a Bristol Press article, Hospital President Kurt Barris said “Our current hospital campus has reached its capacity with respect to space for existing and new services and the parking that is required for those services.”

In addition to the sale, a Preliminary Master Plan for the former mall site was unveiled at a public workshop last month. To view the plan click here. You can also watch the public workshop on Nutmeg TV.

The official signing follows a recent City Council vote approving the Purchase and Sale agreement with Bristol Hospital.
