Wheeler’s 32nd Annual Golf Classic Set For June 12

Wheeler Clinic

Wheeler’s 32nd Annual Wheeler Golf Classic will take place at The Country Club of Farmington on June 12, 2017. Registration is open, and sponsors and prize donors are welcome.

“Proceeds from this event will help us continue to expand access to critically needed primary, behavioral health and dental care services for families living in poverty and other vulnerable members of the community,” said Susan Walkama, LCSW, president and chief executive officer of Wheeler Clinic.

“I encourage members of the local business community to come out and enjoy a great day of golf, or consider sponsorship of this event to benefit Wheeler and the children, families and communities they serve,” said Les Hyatt, president, Nutmeg Precision Sales, LLC, and 2017 Wheeler Golf Classic chair.

Last year, Wheeler’s Golf Classic raised $56,000, bringing the amount raised since inception to more than $1 million.

The Wheeler Golf Classic was founded by a group of business leaders and top companies in 1986, and some of the original supporters still remain involved today. Event sponsors have participated since the tournament’s first year, sharing a commitment to improving the health and well-being of families and the community.

Proceeds from Golf Classic events have helped Wheeler address emergent community needs such as ensuring access to integrated primary and behavioral health services in underserved communities and providing a state-of-the art learning environment for students with emotional and behavioral challenges.

Wheeler’s 32nd Annual Golf Classic is made possible by a number of local businesses, including Platinum Dinner Sponsor, Farmington Bank, which has supported the event for 25 years; Platinum Logo Sponsor, Manafort Family Foundation, a Golf Classic supporter for 18 years; and Lunch Sponsor Gibbs, a supporter for 24 years and Golf Cart Sponsor, Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc., which has been involved for 17 years.  Additionally, the event is supported by members of the Chairman’s Circle, including Barnes Group, Inc., Mutual of America, and
Laurie and Bill Torres. Richard Cartland is the Beverage Cart Sponsor; O’Shea Getz, P.C. is the Putting Contest Sponsor; Whittlesey & Hadley, P.C. is the Practice Range Sponsor; Sanditz Travel Management is the Grand Prize Sponsor, and Parsons Buick of Plainville is the Hole-in-One Sponsor.
