Retired Veteran Bikes 12,000 Miles to Help Hungry Veterans

Mike Beattie

Mike Beattie meets with Senator Henri Martin

Special shout out to District 31 Senator Henri Martin and the people of Bristol, Plymouth, Plainville, Harwinton and Thomaston.

Senator Martin, who is also co-chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee took the time to meet with Mike Beattie.

Beattie, whose story is part of the current display at the Capitol, is the navy vet and retired small business owner who after seeing the pain of hungry and homeless vets, sold his house and pedaled on his bike around the entire boarder of this county to help others.

Last year Beattie self funded and rode his bicycle 12, 240 thousand miles and returned to much fanfare.

Now Beattie is working on a book to help bring this country together and to raise funds for our vets. Beattie will also return periodically through this legislative session and hopefully will be able to connect with as many true Americans as he can.

Thanks again Senator Martin for your time, it was a pleasure to meet you.
