Of the hundreds of stories we posted this year, these were the ten most-read, shared, and discussed pieces in 2016.

In a year largely overshadowed by a highly contentious and many would say unusual presidential election, it can be difficult to recall quickly everything that has happened over the past year.

Nevertheless, 2016 has brought with it plenty of news — both good and bad — and as the year came to a close we are taking a look back at some of the Roundup’s biggest stories.

BRIDGEPORT — The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating a deadly late night shooting in Bridgeport. Bridgeport police said the homicide happened at around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Iranistan and Railroad avenues in Bridgeport, near a ballfield at Went Field Park. A man was found shot to death there. HARTFORD — State legislators will convene at the state Capitol Thursday to discuss how budget cuts and layoffs to state workers will negatively impact the future of Connecticut’s state parks. Most recently, 12 full-time state park maintainers were laid off, which leaves 35 maintainers to take care of the 110 state parks, 15 campgrounds, and a few other facilities.
