On November 20, 2016 Officers Brian Hileman, Tim Hall, and Daniel Perkins were dispatched to Firefly Brewing on Center Street for an unconscious person. Hileman arrived first, followed by Hall and Perkins.

Hileman observed Rebecca Talbot, a registered nurse, performing CPR on an unconscious male inside the brewery. While Talbot was administering rescue breathing, Hileman began chest compressions.

Perkins and Hall arrived and began to assist. They administered oxygen and hooked up an AED to the victim. A shock was advised and administered.

However, it was not successful.

They continued CPR and Bristol EMS arrived. While working to save the victim, he regained a pulse. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The victim, a 70 year-old Branford resident ultimately survived and he was released from the hospital the next day.

The direct actions by Talbot and the three officers saved a person’s life. Rebecca Talbot, along with Officers Hileman, Hall, and Perkins were awarded the Lifesaving Commendation.

Sean Spicer announces he’s writing a book

WASHINGTON DC — Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is writing a book to “set the record straight” about what he says happened during the 2016 election, transition and his time serving in the administration. “I looked back at the coverage of the campaign, the transition in the first six, seven months of this White House, I realized the stories that are being told are not an accurate representation of what President Trump went through to get the nomination, […]

The brain benefits of your child’s dinosaur obsession

NEW YORK — Susan Alloway’s daughter Erin was very specific about her Halloween costume. It couldn’t be just any dinosaur: Erin, 6, wanted to be an Ozraptor. For the record, an Ozraptor is an abelisauroid theropod dinosaur that lived in modern-day Australia during the Middle Jurassic period. It’s also definitely not something a mom can buy off the rack at Party City. “I Googled it, and there’s nothing,” Alloway says. “There’s like two pictures of an Ozraptor. But she said […]

North Korea may be making a fortune from bitcoin mania

PYONGYANG — Speculators aren’t the only ones cheering the runaway bitcoin boom — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may also be celebrating a windfall. In recent months, experts and officials say North Korea has been “mining” bitcoin, demanding it as ransom payment and outright stealing the digital currency. “It is a fact that North Korea has been attacking virtual currency exchanges,” said Lee Dong-geun, a director with South Korea’s state-run Korea Internet and Security Agency. “We don’t know how much North Korea has stolen so far, […]
