Bristol’s popular downtown watering-hole Firefly Hollow Brewery was named the best brewery in Connecticut, according to Yelp.

Yelper Brendan H. posted “Bring food, have a pizza delivered, or enjoy the rotating schedule of food trucks. You can bring your pooch as well.” and Yelper Anne C. posted “Firefly produces beers to fit almost every type of beer lover.” — just to name a few.

While Bristol Rising is now long gone, many of their positive efforts and successes continue.

Firefly Hollow Brewery in downtown Bristol is one of them.

Since then, Firefly has been featured on NPR and in the New York Times.

Back in 2014, Brewmaster and Co‐Founder of Firefly Brewing Company Dana Bourque told the Roundup that the brewery has blazed its own path and Bourque credits Bristol for supporting their development.

“When we were conceptualizing the company we started looking at where we could possibly do it and we were drawn to this part of the state because there was not a whole lot going on for craft beers. There were a couple, but as far as craft beer bars and availability it seemed low. We went around to all the town halls to see if anyone was interested. Bristol was one of the few that said that sounds awesome and we think we could put you in a really cool spot.”

Bourque said in the breweries infancy, “Its really important to stick to your roots and to make sure that the people that helped you get going are never forgotten or left behind so keeping this Bristol location is really important to me.”The spot, a former New Departure factory building located at 139 Center Street, has become a brightly burning light of community spirit and excitement in Bristol.

Bourque definitely kept that promise.

Fast-forward to 2016 and Firefly continues to grow while bringing out-of-town folks to downtown Bristol.
