Bicyclist Killed on Rt. 72

Over the weekend, 911 callers reported a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist on Pine Street in the area of Emmett Street.

Arriving officers found the 49 year old bicyclist suffering from potential life threatening injuries.

The bicyclist was transported to Bristol Hospital where he succumb to his injuries.

The Bristol Police Department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) was called in to investigate the crash.  

A preliminary investigation found that the bicyclist was traveling north across Pine Street from the Valero Gas Station when he collided with a 2004 Honda Accord traveling west on Pine Street.  

The 75 year old operator was not injured.  

The crash remains under investigation by START.

HARTFORD — Connecticut Democratic lawmakers have proposed increasing the state sales tax to raise more than $660 million over two years to help curb potential cuts to education aid to cities and towns.
