Martin Violated SEEC Rules

Senator Henri Martin mailer that receiving significant financial support from the National Association of Realtors.

State Senate candidate Mike Nicastro in a press release asked his opponent state Senator Henri Martin to explain how he will maintain his independence on real estate issues which may come before the General Assembly after receiving significant financial support from the National Association of Realtors.

“I have the greatest respect for the real estate profession and for the hundreds of small businesses who are stakeholders in that industry” stated Nicastro, whose wife Colleen has a Connecticut Realtor’s license.

The Nicastro campaign also pointed out that the mailers sent by the National Association of Realtors with Henri Martin’s photo prominently displayed, have violated the State Election Enforcement Committee (SEEC) rules by failing to register these independent expenditures in a timely fashion and in some cases not at all.

“I’m curious as to how Henri will handle any conflicts of interest on real estate issues, especially those of a consumer nature after having received significant financial support from a national lobbying group.”

The support Nicastro refers to has been no less than 3 full sized mailers to the 31st District and online advertisements endorsing Henri for re-election.

Nicastro said, “Henri and his campaign has repeatedly used my party affiliation as the paper thin tie to a governor I have no relationship with and they went so far as identity theft to photo shop my image and place it next to the governor asking how I would remain independent after the “governor financed” my campaign.  Yet another blatant false claim.  They’ve even made spurious comments about Nancy Wyman, the state’s very popular Lt. Governor who Martin goes out of his way to be seen standing with in his district wide senate mailings.

“Unlike Henri who has repeatedly question my integrity, I’m not making any claims or accusations. I’d simply like to know how voters can be confident that Henri will have their best interests in mind when important real estate legislation comes forth. This is not just a tangential connection but is in fact a case where Henri’s campaign received significant financial support and where he has the potential for personal financial gain in play?  I think the voters deserve an explanation.” said Nicastro

Campaign manager Jeffery Caggiano for Henri Martin said they have no further comments and stand by earlier ones plastered all over local media outlets.
