Martin has done a great job so far

Henri Martin

Henri Martin

I was appalled to receive a letter paid for by Mike Nicastro’s campaign for the State Senate.

It was written by his brother Frank endorsing Mike’s candidacy.

It touts Frank supposedly, “worked hard to keep our most vulnerable citizens safe and help older adults enjoy their golden years living in their own homes,” and Mike would help seniors the same.

Watch out! I ask why is the Nicastro team so ignorant as to send this letter to the Dudko family?

My mother is Mary Bugryn Dudko. The same Bugryn family Frank ousted from their homes and property on Middle Street by eminent domain against their wishes.

Today it’s the site of the still half empty Southeast Bristol Business Park adjacent to the ESPN North Campus.

My father was then “vulnerable,” dying of terminal cancer and my parents, aunts and uncles wanted to live out “their golden years” in their own homes. They were in their 80’s, lived there for six decades, law abiding and always paid all of their taxes on time.

Please, no more phony mailings from the Nicastro campaign. We do not need another tax and spend Democrat to help Governor Dannel Malloy’s agenda of dipping into your wallets and pocketbooks for needless projects.

I wil not be voting for Mike Nicastro. I will be voting for State Senator Henri Martin and I urge you to do the same. He’s done a great job so far.

Another Nicastro in office will hurt seniors and simply take more money out of your pocket and maybe your home.

Hartford council authorizes mayor to seek state oversight

Hartford council authorizes mayor to seek state oversight

HARTFORD — Hartford’s city council has approved a proposal to apply for state oversight in exchange for tens of millions of dollars needed to help the city balance its budget. The Hartford Courant reports the move was requested by Democratic Mayor Luke Bronin. The council approved it Monday. Some council members had resisted the plan, saying it would undermine the power of local government. But they said it became unavoidable as the potential for bankruptcy loomed. Hartford’s $611 million budget currently has […]

Sean Spicer announces he’s writing a book

WASHINGTON DC — Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is writing a book to “set the record straight” about what he says happened during the 2016 election, transition and his time serving in the administration. “I looked back at the coverage of the campaign, the transition in the first six, seven months of this White House, I realized the stories that are being told are not an accurate representation of what President Trump went through to get the nomination, […]

The brain benefits of your child’s dinosaur obsession

The brain benefits of your child’s dinosaur obsession

NEW YORK — Susan Alloway’s daughter Erin was very specific about her Halloween costume. It couldn’t be just any dinosaur: Erin, 6, wanted to be an Ozraptor. For the record, an Ozraptor is an abelisauroid theropod dinosaur that lived in modern-day Australia during the Middle Jurassic period. It’s also definitely not something a mom can buy off the rack at Party City. “I Googled it, and there’s nothing,” Alloway says. “There’s like two pictures of an Ozraptor. But she said […]

North Korea may be making a fortune from bitcoin mania

PYONGYANG — Speculators aren’t the only ones cheering the runaway bitcoin boom — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may also be celebrating a windfall. In recent months, experts and officials say North Korea has been “mining” bitcoin, demanding it as ransom payment and outright stealing the digital currency. “It is a fact that North Korea has been attacking virtual currency exchanges,” said Lee Dong-geun, a director with South Korea’s state-run Korea Internet and Security Agency. “We don’t know how much North Korea has stolen so far, […]
