Laura Bartok, State Representative candidate in the 77th District .

We are proud to endorse our daughter, Laura Bartok, for State Representative in the 77 th District. Laura has always been interested in learning and working with others. Even when she was very young, she would always put others first, helping friends and classmates wherever she could.

This spirit continued through high school and college. She not only excelled in studies, but sought out groups through which she could share her skills. In the early years, she loved Girl Scouts and dance. At Saint Paul Catholic High School, she continued to excel in academics, but also joined the Mission Club, Track and Field, Volleyball and continued her dancing.

Once in college at Eastern (ECSU), she discovered her love of working with the elderly in her Social Work major, and worked in the Office of the Dean of Students. Working towards her MSW at UConn, she studied policy at the Nancy Humphreys Institute for Political Social Work and has she continued to work with the Institute through this year.

Laura’s passion for helping others has led her to work as a sessional staffer in both the state House and state Senate, as Legislative Analyst for the Commission on Health Equity and various non-profit groups. She was also a campaign manager for the successful campaigns of Chris Wright in 2008 and Kate Matthews in 2009. We would like to emphasize that Laura is a very conscientious, hardworking, keenly focused, compassionate and deeply spirited individual.

She is determined to meet all the voters of the 77 th District to learn of their needs and bring a youthful spirit to solving our most pressing issues.

Recalling the great freedoms we all cherish, it is so important to express your faith in our form of government by voting on November 8th. We hope that when you do so, you will consider supporting our daughter, Laura Bartok, for State Representative.

CLINTON, N.Y. — At the top of a New York restaurant’s menus – right next to the martini glass logo – is the rule, “One drink policy while dining with children.” Melisa Gravelle, general manager at Peddlers Bar & Bistro in Clifton, says she holds those seven words – designed to keep families safe on the road – close to her heart, according to WTEN. “We love children,” Gravelle said. “Everybody loves children and children don’t have a voice.” Gravelle says […]

Tuesday: Early shower, fog and drizzle

Tuesday: Early shower, fog and drizzle

Monday didn’t feel very much like July! With waves of rain and temperatures in the 60s it felt more like spring or fall! While most of the rain is done, a few lingering showers along with areas of fog and drizzle will continue tonight into Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be slightly better, but not by much. The sky will start off overcast with the chance for an isolated shower or mist. Then in the afternoon some breaks in the clouds […]
