Burlington event to update parents on new social media threats

BURLINGTON — Regional School District 10 — Burlington & Harwinton —  announced that Scott Driscoll, a 21 year law enforcement official in CT and originator of his business, Internet Safety Concepts, will be back to present to Har-Bur’s grades 5-8 and Lewis S Mills, ninth graders.

His additional background includes being a member of a federal crimes against children task force which led him to assist in numerous operations involving computer crimes against children.

In 2014, Scott’s presentation was very well received by 8th grade students as well as parents.  His message is direct, factual, and sincere in order to heighten students’ awareness around positives and negatives of social networking, cyber-bullying, video chats, picture sharing, privacy settings, sharing “too much” information, and creating their digital footprint.  It will be tailored for the age of the audience.

In his evening presentation, Scott will discuss concerns and solutions to assist parents understanding around social networking, popular and trending apps, privacy settings, and apps and programs that can help parents monitor their families as well as discussing parental controls they can implement and resources available.   

The Parent’s Presentation will be held on October 25, 2016 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Lewis Mills auditorium. 24 Lyon Road Burlington, CT. ww.region10ct.org
