ESPN teams up with Boys & Girls Club to present STEAMFest 2016

The Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center and ESPN have teamed up to present STEAMFest 2016 on Saturday October 22, 2016 10AM-4PM at The Boys & Girls Club on West Street.

The event is free and open to the public.

The event will offer a variety of activities, presentations and displays focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) for students of all ages and their families.

The goal of the event is to build awareness about STEAM for students and their families, while demonstrating how much fun these disciplines can be.

More than 40 exhibits will showcase how these disciplines are inherent in many of the things we do every day.

Numerous exhibits from ESPN will be on display, including an entire television studio, which will show different components of how to put on a live TV program. Fascinating, interactive experiences will also be exhibited at the event.

6-year-old Norwalk girl dies from complications from the flu

NORWALK — In a letter that went home to parents Sunday, school officials confirmed that a six-year-old girl died unexpectedly from complications due to the flu. The child attended Columbus Magnet School  in Norwalk. Principal Medard Thomas said that counselors would be available at the school to help children, staff, and parents process the tragedy.
