Ur Probably from Bristol If…  a popular Facebook page with well over 3,000 members has started to cash mob. In this digital age cash mobs are growing in popularity across the country and in Bristol. With a click of the mouse, thousands of people can focus on a local business and send their armies filled with “cash” in their pockets to support it.

A cash mob is a group of people who assemble at a local business to make purchases. The purpose of these mobs is to support both the local businesses and the overall community. They may also serve a secondary purpose in providing social opportunities.

Jason Noon, Administrator for the site said “I decided to do a cash mob every week. We will highlight a local business on the Bristol page then schedule a cash mob for that business”.

He also said “I hope that this will help keep the small mom and pops going or show them that even though times may be rough we all appreciate them”

Last Sunday they held their first cash mob for Harvest Bakery. This weeks cash mob will be at Greer’s Chicken this Thursday.

Information about this weeks cash mob and others can be found with just a click of your mouse.

Teddy Ruxpin, the iconic ’80s toy bear, is back

NEW YORK — Teddy Ruxpin, the iconic talking bear from the late ’80s, is back — and he’s flaunting some timely upgrades. The toy bear made a splash when he launched in 1985. He was a first-of-its-kind animatronic toy with a motorized mouth and eyes. He told stories through a cassette player (remember those?) in his back. “Kids adored Teddy Ruxpin so much that he  became a multi-billion dollar product in five years,” said Jeremy Padawer, co-president of Wicked Cool […]

Despite their brave efforts, the heroic officers were unable to save the woman’s […]

Drizzle, fog expected through much of Saturday

Drizzle, fog expected through much of Saturday

We got some much-needed rainfall across the state and, with a majority of the state in a severe drought, it is tough to complain about the wet weather. The only problem is that, with median rainfall totals of around 1/5th of an inch, we aren’t going to see real relief to the drought conditions any time soon. Most of the showers went off towards the east, hitting most of Rhode Island and extending up through the Boston metropolitan area. Today […]

The Stan Simpson Show – Analyzing the Clinton – Trump debate

Round One of the presidential Great Debate is over.  The consensus is that Hillary Clinton outpointed Donald Trump. But there is a rematch Oct. 9th in St. Louis. What does Trump have to do to get momentum — and what does Clinton have to do to build up more points? Hamden Mayor Tim Herbst, one of the state’s rising Republican leaders and Kenneth Kennedy, a former longer Hartford city councilman joined Stan Simpson to talk about the debate. Hillary Clinton […]
